At the KEMA High Power Laboratory in Arnhem, we test exactly that. Here, electrical equipment is pushed to its limits to ensure it can withstand the most demanding conditions. From transformers and switchgear to cable systems: before these products are used in power grids around the world, they are tested here.
Sometimes to the limit. And yes… sometimes until they fail.
As a High Power Test Technician, you will work with installations up to 1 million volts and five hundred thousand. amperes. You play an important role in developing reliable power infrastructure and indirectly contribute to the energy transition.
What you do here is done in only a few places worldwide. So it’s fair to say:

What will you do?
As a High Power Test Technician, you will work in the High Power Laboratory where electrical products are tested under extreme conditions.
Your responsibilities include:
- Building and connecting test setups for short-circuit tests
- Operating installations and systems that perform the tests
- Measuring and recording electrical signals during tests
- Working closely with test engineers and lab technicians to execute tests safely and accurately
- Verifying whether equipment can withstand extreme current and voltage peaks
During a test, you and your team take full control of the installation. Everything must happen at exactly the right moment. And when the test is finished, one thing is certain:
the product can handle real-world conditions… or it can’t.

Who are you?
- You have an MBO degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics (level 3 or 4)
- You work accurately and have a strong affinity with electrical technology
- You speak English
